How we use your information
Joining a professional network means sharing some personal details. Here is what the MPN portal asks for, why it needs those details, and what you can do with your information later.
What we ask you for
The application asks for your name, contact details, location, profession, skills and preferred language. It may also ask about your availability. A profile photograph or supporting documents can be provided where relevant to the application.
Only share documents that are needed for your application or a specific programme. Do not upload passwords or unrelated personal records.
What these details are used for
Coordinators use application details to review membership requests, understand what work someone can help with, organise suitable activities and training, and keep a record of participation or approved volunteer service.
An application does not guarantee membership, an assignment, or a place at an event. Those decisions are reviewed separately.
Optional Join form usage statistics
Both the dedicated Join form and the homepage application offer their own optional, unchecked choice to share aggregate information about which application steps people reach and whether a required-field warning appears. Each choice is off unless you enable it. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control settings are respected.
These statistics save only the UTC date, a predefined step name and its total count. They do not save unfinished answers, names, emails, telephone numbers, passwords, documents, IP addresses, browser identifiers or session IDs in the analytics table. The existing essential application session is used temporarily to prevent repeat counts.
You can turn counting off separately on either application form. Previously added aggregate counts cannot be associated with an individual visitor. Both entry points use the same 90-day retention policy and appear only in an administrator report.
Who can see your information
Access to member records is controlled by staff roles and permissions. Relevant administrators and coordinators can see information needed for their work; joining the network does not make your full application public.
Documents and profile records use protected access controls. The public photograph gallery is a separate publishing process. New images submitted for publication require checks for usage rights, consent and safeguarding where children are involved.
Corrections, copies and deletion requests
After signing in, open Privacy & Data in your workspace to request a copy of your information, ask for a correction or request a deletion review. Some records may have retention requirements, so deletion is reviewed rather than promised automatically.
Questions before you join?
Ask the local organiser or coordination team who introduced you to MPN, especially if you are unsure whether a supporting document is necessary.
This is a practical overview of the portal's information-handling features. It is not a substitute for any formal privacy policy or legal notices issued by the responsible organisation.
